Well, there's no definite answer to why it was you. The most possible reason could be that your company felt that they can still function without that role or cutting down resources to the process. But, the lesser you think about it the better it is for you. Rather, it is time to focus your energies for your benefit. How can you possibly reverse the situation?

First and foremost, acknowledge:

Whenever we humans are stuck in an unwanted situation, we're in the mode of denial. Needless to mention, the very social stigma of being jobless makes it all the more difficult. But in order to come out of a situation, it is utmost essential to accept it. Accept that you have lost the job and it id not your fault! An employment is a contract between two entities and it has ended. That's it.

The sooner you accept the reality, the better.

Time, the most valuable asset:

Once you've accepted your situation, it is important you understand that time is really really what matters. If you're able to utilize this time in hand constructively, you are likely going to land upon your desired job faster. NEVER procrastinate! If something has to be done today, do it without delay. Whether it is the job you've got to apply for, or the extra skillset you need to update, do it today. Remember that your recruiter would also need their own time to shortlist among n number of CVs. Do not delay any single task

Upgrade your Skillsets:

It goes without saying that having the right skillsets can help you get placed faster. And, you would hardly ever get this time back when you have the necessary severance pay from your employer and yet you don't need to spend 9 hours in office!

Utilize this time to the fullest and gets your skills upgraded.

Create Contacts and gain references:

Aside from hitting on the "Apply" button, do ensure to stay in touch, with ex colleagues, possible recruiters who might had just contacted you ever. Build your network of people who can actually be helpful in the times of need. You never know how or when which contact might help you secure the right job. Keep your options open.

Do Not Beg:

One piece of advice would be - don't plead anyone to give you a job. Ask references, but do not bend to the level of begging for it. Believe me, nobody respects or even bothers about people who do not respect themselves. Carry yourself with dignity.

You may also cross path with "friends" who would not really bother to share your resume anywhere even if they happen to have a chance. That's just Ok. Believe in yourself more than anyone else.

Believe:

I think it all boils down to what you believe! We all believe in something. We believe in principles, believe in God, believe in value systems. Likewise, also believe in yourself. It is the unwavering belief that you have in yourself that would actually make the magic work. It if your belief which would propel you to knock
